Each month in your Will & Way Journal, there is the space to reflect on the different areas of your life and create future habits to improve.
The Wheel of Life is a tool often used by life coaches to help you holistically evaluate your life. It allows you to score each area of your life out of 10 and create a visual representation of which areas you excel in and which areas need a bit more work.
The areas we focus on are:
- Education
- Health
- Friendships
- Finances
- Family
- An area of your choosing (It could be a hobby, your faith or a particular thing you want to focus on for the month)
Shade in the wheel starting from the middle so that it reflects the grade you give it. For example, if you know very little about money and finance then you could give this a low grade and shade in a small amount of the segment. Whereas, if you are achieving well in your education then you could give this a higher mark and shade in more of this segment. One segment has been left blank for you to fill in. Some examples might be: spirituality, self development, a particular hobby etc

After shading in the segments, you should have a good idea of which areas of your life you are achieving in, and which areas of life need more attention.
Next, choose three aspects/segments of your life that you would like to concentrate on each month. These could be the lowest scoring, or just the ones that you feel strongly about improving.
Assign each aspect a strategy to improve. A top tip for this is choosing something that can be done daily, so that it becomes a habit. For example, if you scored low on finances you could dedicate 20 minutes a day to finance podcasts or books to improve your knowledge. If you scored low on health, you could make it a habit to go for a half an hour walk every day, or meal prep. The key is a small habit that you can complete often until it becomes a part of your life. A good book to help you get the most out of this is “Atomic Habits” by James Clear.
Make your habits:
1. Obvious - leave your running shoes out, leave your journal open etc.
2. Attractive - Change your mindset - I’m excited about making my bed because it means that my room will look clean and I’ll have a great sleep tonight. 3. Easy - When you start a new habit it should take less than two minutes. In- stead of making your habit to go for a 5km run every day. It should be to put on your running shoes and active wear as soon as you wake up.
4. Satisfying - We are more likely to repeat a habit if it is rewarding!
